Both red plants are real. The red one in the SH tank was purchased from Big Al's. It sort of looks like red grape caulerpa, but it grows upright on sturdy stalks from a rock. The red MA in the 42g is something that grew out of an ordinary piece of LR. It's very slippery to the touch and its movements in the current are beautiful :smile: Don't have IDs on either of them, unfortunately. The red stuff from the 42 and the green stuff from the SH tank are what I will be bringing to Saturday's get together.

Wild caught SHs from your lfs are very hard to keep. Many of them have suffered much stress from shipping and handling prior to them getting to the lfs. WC SHs also only know how to eat live food and even the very best stocked refugium will soon run out of food for them. Some WC can be taught to eat frozen mysis, but it takes a long time and a lot of patience to train them. Other WC never eat frozen and simply starve to death :cry:

My SHs are captive bred and I will only ever keep CB horses. They ate mysis when I got them, but to make sure they ate consistently, I set up a feeding station and trained them for a week to eat from there.

All our tanks are in our dining and living rooms, so we see them an awful lot. I love looking at clean tanks so I can see what the inhabitants are doing from afar :cool: Plus, we have brown flatworms, so if I don't clean the glass weekly (along with other weekly maintenance) the flatworms soon become a problem.
