Where to buy cement that works on flexible PVC
I have read that either Oatey Flexible PVC Cement or Weld-On 795 is the kind to use for gluing flexible pvc into regular PVC fittings. Some have told me that regular PVC cement will work, I'd rather not chance it.
I have been unable to find the flexible PVC cement online in Canada (some U.S. places have it). Are there any places in Vancouver that have it? |
Go to your nearest pool and spa store. They will have it for sure

When I bought my flexline hose from Newline they told me to go to http://www.corix.com/ to get the flexible PVC cement.
I just used regular PVC cement. It worked for me. |
There is a pool/spa place next to Canadian Tire in North Van. They have flexo PVC to regular PVC cement and primer that you should use as well.

I got my Spa-flex from two different Hot Tub places that also do repairs (one place also manufactures) and asked what they use. Both places told me they just use the regular PVC cement so that's what I got.
Close to 5 years and still no leaks. |
You want to use IPEX 95 FLEX.

I've just used regular PVC cement for the last couple years and it has always worked just fine.

Purple primer and regular PVC glue is all I use.

Regular here as well. I've deliberately tried bending and pulling flex hose out of PVC fittings before so that I could re-use one or the other. Its extremely difficult to impossible without breaking something.

Thanks for the replies.
From what I have read the special flexible PVC cement is for high pressure applications. Seems that a lot of people have done fine with the regular PVC cement. However I will try the store in North Van as I have had it with plumbing leak nightmares and I don't want to take any chances. |
