Another DIY stand
I needed a stand for my new 36 gal...So I built it to my specs..
Gave myself lots of room underneath for skimmer (20 gal sump going in) Doors going on next.. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...0902000908.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...0902000907.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...0904001111.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...904001112a.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...0904001112.jpg |
Thats pretty nice! Can't wait to see it with doors on :) How long did it take?
|
Thnx Doors will be on today, and I will have it in place with tanks on it.
Then I have to plumb it.. never have plumbed a sump setup before.. This stand took 3 evenings..Built the frame first night...then sheeted it the next.and yesterday I finished the trim, did my routering ,sanded and stained. This is the second stand I've built by myself. The first one isn't quite as nice. :biggrin:This 1 turned out almost perfect..I just wish I had a little more space width wise underneath. More pics later...Then I'll start a tank setup thread. |
All done..except for drain hole 2 x 3 framing--the rest is all pine.(no crap pressboard here. :) tatal cost= about $120.00

WOW.....you want to come by and build a canopy for my 10 foot tank? LOL!!! You do very nice work...too bad you weren't close!
|
Tank has found a home. :) Now I will put the baffles in my sump and figure out the plumbing..
Think I gonna build a matching canopy too. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...906001645a.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...0906001645.jpg |
Great job. How do you do those funky front edges? I'm handicapped when it comes to wood working!
|
When I built my stand it took about 12 hours or so. I am considering a canopy aswell. Hurry up so I can see how yours turns out, it will give me motivation to do mine ;)

I'm no carpenter either.. lol But having the right tools makes a huge difference. My pop's gave me his router, and it's my new favourite toy. :) You can get all kinds of moldings and trim at HD, to get the "funky " edges. And the router can do some very cool stuff as well. Thnx for the kind words guy's Gotta do some levelling still...man is my basement floor out to lunch! |
