Ocean motion squirt getting hot.

Hey. So im running an ocean motion squirt with about 500-600GPH through it and ive noticed that the metal top gets quite warm. I dont smell that tell tale hot electrical smell but its pretty warm. Anyone else know if this is normal? Thanks.

My OM 4way running off a 3600 gph pump is hot to the touch as well, not hard to see why as it does run 24/7.

I don't remember completely but I'm pretty sure that the motor on my SS was pretty toasty as well. Plus it was really loud until it broke down right after the warranty expired and I had to buy a new brand of motor for it. I've got a 4Way now and the Hurst motor is quite hot to the touch... Everything it hot it seems. From pumps to lights to solenoids to ballasts and miscellaneous motors everything generates a lot of heat.

All synchronous motors run hot, it is the nature of the beast, nothing to be concerned about.

Any motor that runs 24/7 will emit some kind of heat.

Go to a local computer store or Princess Auto and buy a heatsink or fan for it. Will definately help.

Took the words right out of my head Ken, have been thinking of doing this as of late.
