How do you resist...

Pulling your new fish outta quarantine and putting them into your tank sooner rather then later?

I just caught myself about to put my pretty new fish into my tank - its only been in quarantine a week! I got 2 more weeks of torture left!

I have problems...

Aquattro 11-21-2003 08:22 PM

What's that "Q" word you mentioned?

LostMind 11-21-2003 08:48 PM

a-HA!

I see how this works!

Canadian Man 11-21-2003 08:49 PM

I don't need no stinking Quaranteeeeen.

I been thinking the same thing... maybe I have a new 29 gallon reef tank... heh.

Actually, I am near the end of my fish purchasing. So soon I may have 2 tanks. Then my girl will really kill me :)

I had 11 fish at one time, never quarantined once. Added number 12 and within a week, everthing died accept my Regal Tang go figure. Some of the fish I had were over 5 years in my care. Only takes one infected fish. Be safe rather than sorry.

Chris, you're absolutely correct. I think it should be known that we are not encouraging anyone NOT to quarantine, just that we don't for different reasons. My reason is laziness. CM may have others:-)
Ideally you should quarantine every addition to your tank.

LostMind 11-21-2003 10:31 PM

yah, I know this....

but this purple tang has all the nice colours and everything... and its just hiding behind some pvc in my basement. Poor sucker doesnt deserve to be stuck in the little quarantine tank where I cant see him all day long :)

Aquattro 11-21-2003 10:37 PM

I think if the tanghas been in a little box for a week, you're probably fine putting it in the tank. It may get ick from moving again, but that should be easy to deal with.

 ya i have nevered Q the fish yet ,I have had some ick but a little garlic will do wonders...
