LF: Acropora Desalwii frag

Hey everbody! I'm looking for a frag of A. desalwii. I don't know what fancy name other reefers have dubbed it so it's a little hard to track it down. To make things easier, here is a picture of A. desalwii I found on Google.

If any one has a frag of this beauty, please give me a shout!!!

Most A. desalwii do not have green polyps like this, most of them are brown so finding one won't mean that you will end up with one looking like this.

Are you sure on that? The only ones I have ever seen in tanks or in pictures have green polyps, albeit maybe not as green as in the picture I have there; in fact, if I recall correctly, that is one of the traits of A. desalwii. A. plana, which looks incredible similar and grows in the same region as A. desalwii, has the purple/brown polyps...

PS. Atomikk, you guys have any cool zoas/palys in that aren't on the site?

Well there is what is possible in nature, and what is possible with heavy dosing of elements. Both Plana and Desalwii can have green polyps. I believe the main factor in determining which is which is the growth pattern.

We do. We are working of some cool pictures. We will have Nukes, PDs, etc... and this amazing new soft coral only offered by us.

Wanna hook a brotha up with something cool? Let me know when you've got some pics!

Also, any suggestions where to track down A. desalwii?

I am trying to track one down myself. I will let you know once I find one :) And yes, we will post pics soon on our site (and here).

Hi,

It is possible to find one of those from time to time at a LFS (at least here in Calgary). I have seen it a few times actually. They may appear brown as mentioned in a previous post, however like all SPS you may get a suprise if it likes your water conditions. I purchased mine as a browned out colony, and it looks pretty close to that picture now, except it is more pinkish purple at the tips. Too bad you are so far away. Maybe if you are patient or lucky, you will see one at your LFS one day.
