Lawnmower Blenny in SPS tank
I want your experiences with Lawnmower in a SPS tank. Good, bad?
|
I've had my LMB for a couple years now. Great reef fish that never bothers any of my coral including SPS. Also good with clams, as I already mentioned in your other thread.
|
thanks ;)
I got scared 2secs reading on liveaquaria taht they can bother SPS (and clams) :crazyeye: I add one this week end to help controling the algea ;) |
Hmm, I have never thought of them as a risk to SPS and clams. As with most fish in this hobby it can be hit and miss. I should also mention my lawnmower is well fed. I would imagine an underfed fish would be more likely to nip at polyps.

My bicolor was a problem for a little bit nipping at my sps but maybe he was seeing if there was algae on them? After I had a few more fish in the tank he started spending more time in his cave and less time perched/mouthing the corals.
Not a LMB but still maybe useful. |
For some reason I can only keep LWB's alive for about 3 years at a time. The 4 that I have had over the years have never bothered any corals or clams at all.
|
Not a problem in my experience with SPS.
|
Nope, me neither. He's a model citizen.

Nassarius Snails
My LB would go after the Nassarius Snails... He was never successful at killing any of them. That's the only thing he went after.
|
If by bugging your coral you mean perching on them for a few moments before searching for more food.. then yes, they are all guilty of that. As for doing any real harm.. never heard of it.
