Sump Baffle Glass Thickness
Hi all,
I'm changing my 90 over 75 FW setup into a 90 over a 75 gallon sump. I think the largest section for my sump will be about 25-30 gallons. What thickness of glass should I get for that? I have built a 20 gallon sump with 1/8" glass (3mm). Should I go for the thicker glass this time? Thx in advance. |
Somewhat of an old thread, maybe. I would got for 1/4" just to be sure. Even on my 30g sump I'm in the process of making I went for 1/4" baffles.

Although you could get away with 1/8 inch I too would go with 1/4. I don't think the price is much of a difference and it is only marginally harder to cut.
Let me know when you need the diamond bits. |
Go 5mm for baffles. 3mm is easily broken & in a sump, moving your skimmer or pump or pieces of LR can easily break it. 5mm is stronger & doesn't cost much more.

I normally use 1.4 or 3/8 inch 1/8 is just to thin you have to be very careful when placing anything in the the sump with 1/8. I would not use it just for safety reasons.
