Sand for a 90G
I was wondering how many LBS of sand for a 90G? 48x18x24
I'm planning on getting the Caribsea Special grade reef sand, I want 1cm of sand.. easy to mantain and vaccum  Anyone? Thanks in advance! |
I just set up a 90 gal, I used 1 large bag of aragonite sugar sand (don't have the bag anymore to tell you the exact size) and it gave me about a 1 cm sand bed in the tank.
Edit - A little googling around, it must have been the 30 pound bag I bought. |
A 30lbs bag should do the trick for you.
|
A 30lb bag was enough to give me 1" of sand in my 90Gal.

Sand bed calculator here: http://reefcentral.com/index.php/sand-bed-calculator
Please note that all units are in inch. |
Thanks for the answers!
It gave me 45LBS ( that's what I had in mind, but just wanted to make sure LOL) Do you guys think ill be fine with 45LBS? |
45 lbs will be lots. I have 45 lbs in my 90, and I was able to create 4" deep sand on each end (10" long) for my Jawfish. I used that calculator, and it told me to buy 70lbs for a 1" bed with the 10" long 4" deep ends. I took a bag back. Hehe.

Thanks Myka! Do you have the special grade sand?
|
I have a mix some Select, some Special, and about 5 lbs Super for the Jawfish.
