Ever Been Blasted By Your Pistol Shrimp?
 

Well just as i expected, it hurts.
I almost knocked down the live rock in reaction.
I have 2.5" michaels pistol shrimp. He packs a punch.

Lesson Learned

Mine fired a pair of tweezers out of my hands the other day. I was reaching into his domain for a frag that had fallen down. I jerked pretty hard and spilled water everywhere but no actual skin contact.

Surprised the crap out of me to say the least.

I had my pistol shrimp "Jhammal" get me once, didn't hurt to bad but it startled me so much I jumped backwards tripped over my top off bucket and biffed it head first into the wall.

Reminds me of the similar time I electrocuted myself so bad I spasmed and fell through the wall ass backwards. Now that I think about it I have had pieces of my body penetrate drywall far to many times, I should probably be more careful :lol:. Btw happy 420 Kenny!

My Tiger Pistol "Citizen Snips" has a tendency to steal my frags and bury them. And the weird thing is, he super protective of his buried frags. I went digging one time to find a zoa frag he stole and apparently he didn't like that. He came flying out of his hole and went straight for me and BAM! got me. Stung (he's a big guy) but no damage.

So you guys got pistol whipped by your shrimp?! :lol:

My guy totally does the same. He steals any frag he can get into his house. It's been a real pain but I love the goby/shrimp pair regardless.

I now use longer tweezers to get anything in his house...

gonna be a death match at 12 noon high this thursday between me and my ex-friend,ex-pet turned mortal enemy pistol packing inch-high igor the terrible.
whatever the outcome pls respect our final signed wishes and lay either one or both fallens into our respective deep holes. match ground to be announced tomorrow at 9 am sharp.

I've been nailed a couple times, startled countless times. Wifey laughs her butt off when the fat guy recoils in horror. Why do I always forget about that little bugger when I try to retrieve a frag from his house. Every once in a while I take a long pair of forceps and harrass him back. That'll learn 'em.

Ive never been hit by a pistol shrimp but ive gotten a couple warning shots from one of my smaller mantis shrimps (a 5 inch chiragra), didnt hurt too bad more scared me more than anything.
