Overkill?
I just setup my first 10g nano tank, and have the following:
Subcurrent Surface Skimming/Filter (160 GPH) Hydor Koralia Nano Powerhead (240 GPH) Aquaclear Powerhead 802 (400 GPH) Total of 800 GPH I am just going overboard? |
If I remember correctly, I think the rule of thumb is 40x turnover of your tank volume, so 400gph should be good enough. Especially for a small tank like that, if you have sand, it might blow everywhere.

my 15 gallon has a vortec mp 1o at 1500 gph so i think your ok.

heh..heh i've got a mag drive 12 going full bore on my rsm130d

I would lose the 805 the koraline should be enough. Depending on what you want to keep.
I run a 3200 +600 on my 75 cube and that is enough to not be able to have LPS my zoe's sure like it though they can't get close enough to the flow. |
Thanks for all the responses! This is my first venture into salt water, and so far it has been really enjoyable. I actually took the 802 powerhead out of the tank, found it was very loud, and blew around the live sand too much. Now what to do with this powerhead....I guess I could use it for premixing the salt water before putting into the tank for water changes and top offs.
