Curing Live Rock

Need advice on how to cure live rock and keep most of growth that came with? Is their a way to prevent lots of loss through die off? I bought 10# of fiji rock and have it in my 10gal Q-tank.

Put a skimmer on it and lighting of only a few hours a day ... water changes every couple days ... check ammonia/nitrite/nitrate every few days ... if you go by the thought that you deprive it of light you will create even more die off

Cheers

I'd do water changes as often as possible... and squirt the rock with a turkey baster to get the dead stuff off it before you do a water change...

I couldnt believe how fast my ammonia and stuff jumped when I was curing my rock...

All I can say is don't trust the LFS when they say it is cured. I did and I think it is the cause of all my algae problems.

IMHO, water changes (RO/DI) and LIGHT and skimming

Thanks for the advice, I have moved the skimmer from the display tank to the 10gal and will do water changes. Now all I need is a good skimmer to replace this seaclone.
