aquasafe ro unit high tds
i set up a new aquasafe ro/di unit two days ago and the tds is still at 200ppm. is there a break in period or is it possible the ro membrane could be faulty ?
|
Can you post pics. What is TDS of the water going in to unit?
|
i cant post pics right now. the tds going in is +/_ 200 ppm. i triple checked the hook ups from the instructions so i think im good there.

I have the aquasafe ro/di unit. My well water is at about 420 ppm, unit strips to about 10 ppm. Do you have the auto shut-off and flush valve?
You might have a faulty membrane. Mine was working right off the start. When I was on town water at approx. 185 ppm unit stripped to about 2ppm. |
what the TDS is after the unit (before the di) is the important number.
With the reject rates of membranes being 90-99% depending on type, the output should be at least 20. |
I would suspect membrane. It should be bringing the TDS down to <10 within a couple minutes. That said, how long are you waiting? At startup there is typically a "TDS surge" which can last anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Usually what I do is flush the membrane for a good 5 minutes and then check the TDS. If it's still 200ish after 5-10 minutes though, then the membrane is toast.

is the output on the connector with the check valve? how is the flush valve positioned (should be 90° to the line)?.

i do have the flush valve. the instructions said to adjust to 3:1 discharge to good water. it must be the membrane shot. i will phone them on monday to see whats up. thanks alot.
