New Anemones

Hi,

Here are two Anemones that we have for sale but not up on the website yet.

One is the Purple Carpet and the other is yet to be Identified.

The Unidentified Anemone is Purplish Pink and has a smooth white bottom. Not very aggressive to the touch. I am told it was collected at a deeper zone.

Any ideas?

Thanks and please PM me for prices until we get it up on the website.

Paul

Second one is H. malu or maybe H. crispa - will be easier to ID once it settles in a bit.

Hi Tony,

I'm quite sure it's not a Crispa as the tentacles are very short and blunt.

Malu, not so sure. The base of this one is pure white and hard. Also, the unique color on this one is making it perplexing. I've had it for over a month now and it prefers lower light and has not lost it's color. I thought that it might have been dyed but so far the color hasn't faded.

Thanks for your reply.

Cheers,

Paul

Nice!

Crispa tends to have very short blunt tentacles after collection though. If it still looks like that after 6 months then yeah, probably not crispa.

To be honest though I still sorta think it's malu.

Unless of course it's not a hosting species of anemone, which may very well be the case, and in which case I have no idea, because that's outside of my experience base. :)

I think the key to this guy is it's base. I've never felt a base that firm or smooth and still have some texture.

Post a picture if you can.

I'm stubbornly clinging to malu though, if it is one of the hosting species. Outside of those 12 or so species are .. um .. rather a lot of different species  so I wouldn't even hazard a guess in that case.
