magnet inside tank

Can a magnet of a Koralia 4 be kept submerged in a reef tank without any ill effects?
Tank's glass is tooooo thick - over 3/4" thick.
Thanks

I had a koralia that was missing the rubber part. Must have been in the tank for 2 years. Never had any issues.

To offer some experience on the other side of the fence:

I had a Tunze nanostream pump that developed a defect in the epoxy covering the magnet unbeknownst to me and it swelled and disintegrated in my tank, leaching rust into the tank.

Thanks for the replies.
I guess I should/could coat the magnet with silicone or epoxy.
