You can drink DI water no problem, the only draw back is that there are no nutrients in that water, which leads to a "theory" that "if" there is a low level of minerals in the blood stream the human body will extract it from whatever source available.
For example if level of calcium in the blood is less then 1% it will be taken from the bones, because beating heart is more important then bone density for survival of the individual. Hence brittle bones in elderly people.
However in the tap water there is not enough of what we need anyway, we don't know what's in there unless we test tap water.

Having said all that, we need to supplement our needs or eat healthy diet of veggies fruits etc.
There has been a hot debate about it on here if you search for it you will find it.
To sum it up its OK to drink DI water there is no NEED to drink it, you can just as well drink RO and it will be ok, If you want to use RO/DI for Fish Tank and House use just "T" off BEFORE DI cartridge and drink that. But I guess then you will need a separate vessel to collect RO only water, and one more to collect RO/DI water.
