How do you tell Percula Clown From an Ocellaris Clown Fish?

I have several referance books. Not one explains the differents. They just group them all together. How do you tell Percula Clown From an Ocellaris Clown Fish?

An Ocellaris is a "false" Percula, so some would still consider them Perculas :-) If I recall correctly, the identifying feature is the black band between their orange and white strips. The thicker black band is the True Percula, while the thinner band is the false percula, aka. Ocellaris :-)

I just learned that that A. percula has 10 spines in the first dorsal fin and A. ocellaris has 11. Learn something new everyday :-D

Thanks Kien. The ones in my FS thread has a black band about 2-3mm thick.
Spikes on a doresl fine. They move to much to count. The same for taking a pic. They are a really nice looking fish.

there is something to do with the eyes as well. I believe false percs have a black iris, where true percs have an orange iris.

The dorsal spines is the only accurate way to identify them. Just take a digital photo and count them.

sort of reminds me of picking mushrooms, the brown and white are okay, the white and brown will turn your liver to mush.
