help me plan my sump
 

so, i just bought this sump off of fishkeeper(saskreef) and dont really know what to put where, i hvae a caralife 65 skimmer to put in there, i dunno if the heater goes in there or not?? i would like to try and get some sort of feed plankton refuge going in the sump if possible im still not clear on how those work. in the pics red stand for eggcrate that is just in little groves for it so its removable or replaceable with glass or whatever works, the black hole is the intake on a lid that covers that section. lmk your thoughts.

What is the middle chamber for? It looks small. You could use a couple more pieces of glass for bubble traps.

i dont know what its for its just random eggcrate surrounded chunk this is jsut how i bought it

Can you post a picture? Perhaps everyone can get a better idea.

caamera isnt cooperating today to connect, its a regular 20 gallon aquarium with the one baffle and some glass pieces attached to make spots for the eggcrate to slide in sorry but ill get pics as soon as camera will connect to comp

this is my current sump plan after doign a bit of researching and your pms i'm thinking this will work lmk what you think.

the water comes in the right chamber with the skimmer and gets skimmed. it then straight from the skimmers output gets put into the far left chamber with chaeto in it. the brown lines on the right of the chaeto area are a fine plastic mesh... think of it as really really fine eggcrate. which leads the water finally to a or2500 pump that sends it back up to the tank. the chaeto compartment has a 150w halogen above it.

i don't see any major problems in the design but i also have never had a sump before so let me know what you think plz.

Heres a pic of my sump....pretty much exactly what you have sketched up, except the simmer section is the smaller of the two out side sections , bubble trap for the skimmer section and a single tall baffle for the fuge section....

my pic is not to scale by any means the two side chambers are about equal..

corection the light above chaeto is a 150w hps light. sry i said halogen.. im hearing mixed opinions about these lights. any input would be nice about using an hps for growing chaeto and maybe other macro algae
