cutting/glueing baffles, diy sump

I'm taking a crack at building my first diy sump and I had a few questions...
1.How much smaller do you cut the baffle (width) then the inside of the aquarium?
2.Is there a way to "temporarily" tack the baffles while you silicone?
3.How the heck do you silicone in between the one inch space if you build bubble traps?

Thanks.

1. I did it with 1/4" less than the space. This gives 1/8" per side. It is needed to allow for temp fluctuation. Glass on glass is not good.
2. Use masking tape.
3. Space the glass panes using cd cases. Do the first two panes first, then allow the glue to cure. Remove the cases and space the third pane. Then glue it. This technique is in a video on you tube.
