I'm finding my eel is starting to get braver and he seems to venture out every now and then

Great shots Laurie!

P.S. Why the double [IMG] tags around all your images?

Great shots. Glad to hear he's swimming out in the open more. Ironically mine has gone from more out to more hidden, he only comes out at feeding time, grabs the food and disappears. "Ok thanks. Sayonara! Later fool." Is he more active at dusk for you? Do you have a dusk/dawn on your tank?

Is that a golden?

Either way beautiful! Great shots! Thanks for sharing!

It's because I'm special  Honestly it always does that but I don't know why.

It's a dwarf golden moray eel. So far mine has been reef safe and safe with small fish. They say these eels (as any other type of eel) will eat anything that will fit into it's mouth. However this type of eel stays fairly small, about the size of a pencil only longer. I also find while mine can eat whole silversides he is very slow at biting them off from the feeding tongs I use and I have to feed mine with the tail part sticking out towards his as I find the side of the body or the head of the silversides are to fat for him to grab onto.

I don't have a dawn/dusk setting, right now I find he's active when the lights are on 3pm to 10pm. He still hides for part of the time when the lights are on but I notice he's the most active when I approach the tank. I believe he has started to figure out that I'm the bringer of food. So whenever he sees me he starts to come out of his hiding hole and looks at me and seems to say "Hey you, are you going to feed me yet? Look I'm right here, so now that you know where to find me....get me some food already!"

I also have these pic's from a week ago. It's right after he ate a big silverside. If you look close enough you can see the big lump in his belly.
