ankilinity raised by Mg?
a friend dosed his tank with magnesium due levels being low
and his ankilinity {sp} rocketed is this due to the Mg???? he was haveing problems already with it being unstable!![/b] |
what did he use to raise his Mg?

It's possible that he was measuring "general hardness" rather than "carbonate hardness". The latter is generally unaffected by Mg levels, but the former is definitely affected, since the Mg:Ca ratio in sea water is usually 3:1.
Having a high Mg level helps you maintain a high calcium level, by the way. |
