Lighting Suggestion

What do you guys thinks of 4 feet light on 6 feet tank. 2x250 and 2 t5's. Is this going to work well? plan on growing sps and clams mainly.

You'll want 3 x 250 watt's in my opinion. You'd regret not going 3 and have shady sides which looks kind of odd. This is just my 2 cents.

you think a foot on each side is really going to make that much of a difference?

Yes it will. I only have 48" t5's x 4 on my 5' tank and it bugs me. I wish I could stagger it but I can't.

I have 3 metal halides on my 5' tank.

i would go with 3 MH HQI DE on 6 ft tank.
If you get only two you will not like the shadows because your tank will look like a cone.

Definately 3, how deep is it?

I have 2 250W on my 5' tank and really should have 3. Theres a dark spot in the center of the tank. a 6' would be worse
