Help IDing some stuff... is this Majano?
Is this Majano? I posted in my tank journal thread but I don't know if anyone actually looks at it, so I thought I should get someone else's opinion. There are a pair of them, around nickel sized and colorless. Both retreat into holes in the rock when disturbed.

They also seem to be getting less brown and more orange since they are in a brighter position now, so time will tell. I thought they might be a pest anemone at first, but I don't think so now. http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/u...reef/007-4.jpg |
First one looks like aiptasia to me  and the second one looks like a hungry sun coral..
Try feeding mysis shrimp when the polyps are extended. Regards, Simon |
Thanks for the reply... I'm beginning to suspect the anemones to be Aiptasia as well, though I generally see them brown to tan in pictures and I understand they are nocturnal? These guys close up when the lights go out.
The stony coral in the second pic does look somewhat like a sun coral, but the largest polyp is only ~4 mm across. Maybe I'll try target feeding them and see if I can get them to grow, thanks for the idea  I think these guys close at night also, I'll check tonight after lights out. Of course, they are pretty close to the tentatively labelled Aiptasia, so maybe I won't start feeding until I've decided what the anemones are and dealt with them (or not). |
+1 on the first picture 2nd I don't know.
