Timer with less than 1-minute intervals?
 

Can somebody recommend a timer that can be used for durations less than 1 minute? I.e., turn on a pump for like 30 seconds every few hours (instead of a full minute).

goto your local hydroponic store and ask them for a "green air cyclestat"
this little beauty is exactly what your looking for, its grounded, and if memory serves me correctly, rated for 15 amps 110V
it allows you 5 seconds to 30 min of "on" time and 7 minutes to 8 hrs "off" time between cycles

Steve, I have some mangroves in my sump and I mist them 2 or 3 times a day. They seem to grow quite well for me this way. I was kind of curious if there was a method I could use to automate this process. I could use a simple digital timer, a 12V windshield washer pump on a RO reservoir, and a dripline mist nozzle thing and thus have the plants "rained" on but I worry that even with a small pump like a windshield washer pump that I'd be spraying too much fresh water into my sump if this went on for a full minute. I'd prefer a smaller interval like 10-30 seconds or so.

if you get a 1 gall/hour misting nocel from a plant mister and run it for 1 min 3 times a day you are only putting in 1/20th of a gal / day

Sounds like a better option. Thanks Steve. I visited a number of hydroponics outfits yesterday and the cheapest timer I found was still like $180. Considering the digital timer with 1 minute resolution is FREE (since it's just sitting around unused in my box-o-stuff) {well ... it was probably like $30 originally ...}, there's really no contest.
