Is this a Mantis Shrimp?
 

and of the smasher species? I hear a clicking noise from time to time and he cleaned out my crabs and cleaner shrimp before I managed to catch him. He is now in a small tank...about 10 gallons I think. He is about 2" - 2 1/2" long and very interesting to watch. Can you tell by the pics if he definitively is a smasher? Also, is this tank large enough or should I put him into something larger - by himself?

Yes that is a mantis shrimp. A nice coloured one too.
