Clown Fish Breeding
 

I just am setting up my New 25 gallon for clowns to breed.
Just wondering if Clown fish would more likely to breed with
clay pots or live rock.
If you know any information on breeding clowns it would be
greatly appreciated.

from what ive heard its best to get your clowns to first breed on the rock, and once they do that put a tile where they usually lay their eggs and they should lay their eggs on that

If they are hosting in an anemone I don't think it would make much of a difference either way. If you don't have an anemone for them to host in then I would go with a pot. Check out www.marinebreeder.org for detailed breeding reports on clownfish.

Well i just added my sand, i was just wondering if i should put live rock in or go with gardening pots?

Does anyone know what would make clown fish lay their eggs faster?

Wendell just told the reality of breeding marine ornamental :) How true it is.

Mine live and breed in a piece of pvc pipe thats been their home for years. A search in the picture forum will bring up the pics of my clowns laying their eggs in the pipe and pics of the eggs just before hatching. Of course being in my reef tank, no hatch survives long.

I think "clown eggs" in the search may work, if not I can find it for you.

Also as a side note to get your clowns in breeding shape feed them a variety of nutritious foods and feed them at around the same time(s) each day. If they aren't getting enough nutrition-wise they might not breed or may eat their eggs.
