I haven't but looks like one of the simpler DIY projects

Bulk reef supply sells one that looks tough and easy to build.They use a R/O chamber.

They pop up on here all the time used for 20 bucks or so. If its just a matter of saving some money, I'd just buy used.

na i just like to build things its not the money
