Worm ID
Well I saw this guy swimming about in my sump and have no idea what it is, anybody out there know?
Theres a short video attached as well showing how well of a swimmer the worm is. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...h_DSCF0647.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...n/DSCF0648.jpg |
Scarry and moves so fast!! Someone must know what kind of beast this is, i don't.
|
looks like a bristleworm
|
no worries
My thoughts as well - Bristle Worm
|
Damn thing is fast! Looks like motility is the cilia hairs along the body, crazy.
|
Well then if its just a bristle no worries at all
|
I would still keep an eye on him.. I found a similar worm eating our toadstool in the refuge. Better safe than sorry. Right.

a swimmer you say? sounds like an epitoke. Many annelids undergo a partial or whole tranformation yielding an epitoke which is basically a swimming reproductive organism. it swims up the water column so currents can disperse sperm farther. not uncommon in hobby aquaria
edit: cool video. I've read about them but I've never actually seen what good swimmers they are until now. thanks. |
Oh, there good swimmers in the video there was just a little bit of water in the dish, but yeah the worm/epitoke has been removed.. :)
