Abalone
A friend of mine from the west coast brought me an abalone that he picked up off the rocks by his house. It still has barnicles on it and they are still alive.
Shoiuld I put it in my tank? it is a FOWLR with four green chromis in it. I thought I would quarentine it first but I don't know for how long. It is probably used to much colder water then my tank (28C today). Any suggestions? I would sure not want to have to throw it away.... |
It won't live in your tank due to temp. It is a cold water animal and is as good as dead!! However, I hear you can eat them.

you should call the cops first as they are a endangered species and it is illegal to colect them.. if not cook it up .. they are real good

As far as I know, it is illegal to collect them.

Captive bred tropical species are available.

I saw them in Seattle last year, not sure were they came from but I'll ask around.
