I think they let the domain expire. Might be a templated page the host/registrar has appear by default.

Probably a hack. Lots of blogging software earlier versions are susceptible to hacks. A robot probably crawled out this site, found an exploit and automatically uploaded it's own frontpage.

Hmm perhaps it's time to make sure my blog is up to date. :)
