world's second largest aquarium

Here's a great video...not sure if it's been posted before.

My first thought was that the tank was way too crowded but the more I watched, it dawned on me that if it can bring a greater respect for the life in the ocean to more people than those like us who own tanks, then it's doing an amazing job.

Thats a pretty cool video, really puts things into perspective what you see something like that.

Too bad their whale sharks keep dying.

Something about that MASSIVE and empty (besides fish) rectangular tank depresses me actually. Can't explain why when it should be breath-taking...

Certainly puts my little piece of the ocean to shame :P

Really? I've watched it several times now and it still takes my breath away. I don't know how they stop them all from eating each other...haha.

I'm with you the whale sharks make me feel sad. It just shows man wanting to control all animals, I love aquariums and zoos but some animals don't belong there.

I have to agree, the tank should not have whale sharks and they should have put live rock and sand in, to make it more natural.

To me it looks like a giant fish bowl full of fish. Definitely needs some rock and sand IMO.

StirCrazy 07-22-2009 01:14 AM

I think rock and sand would be totaly unnatural.. by the look of the fish that were in there they are all open water types.. so a good chance they have never seen the bottom of the ocean. we always try to put our view of how the tank should look and forget about the inportant thing, trying to make it look as natural as we can for the inhabatants.
