Tunze 9010 Break in Time - Others Results
Hey there,
I now have a Tunze 9010 running with my EuroReef rs180, it has been running for about 2 weeks now, but the foam production is off and on... I have the unit running wide open, meaning full air intake, but I hear it can take about a month or so for these units to fully break in, but once they do they are great. Is this true? just wondering and thanks. |
I've had one running on my smaller tank for 2 years now. I find it to be a good little skimmer: Very user friendly, small footprint, and easy to clean. I can't really advise you as to break in time because when I first got it I had a pretty small bioload. Mine skims best with a wetter skimmate. I get about 150 ml per day of a green tea coloured skimmate. Hope this helps.

I'm glad that the 9010 has a good review here. I have one that I will be installing in the sump when I get my new 120 gal finished. Looking forward to the skimmate from this tunze.

I ran mine in my sump for a bit also. Now I love Tunze products in general and my 9010 was a good skimmer but,
if running a sump on something larger than a 100g or so, I would be using one of the better needle wheel model skimmers. |

Yup, I agree with Doug. Mine is in the sump for a 90 gal well-stocked reef and that's pushing it. It does the job but I wouldn't recommend it for anything bigger. |
