Anyone know anything about lux?
Borrowed a luxmeter from work to prove that one bulb/ballast is gimpy. Got new bulbs today so I tested the meter out.
Old bulb left side 12300 lux Old bulb right side 19260 lux Old bulb on crossbrace with lid almost closed 25300 lux New bulb left side 13500 lux New bulb right side 19500 lux New bulb on crossbrace with lid almost closed 39400 lux So what does all this mean, besides the fact that the new bulbs are sort of brighter and there is obviously something wrong with the left ballast?? Anyone?? Christy :) |
it is good for a guestimate. looks like you might have a gimpy ballast.
realy all lux can accuratly measure is a comparason on the same bulb. so you have kinda done this but you are using different bulbs. I can say it looks like you have a problem because of the extreamly large difference. normaly all you should realy use LUX for is determining how long your bulbs are lasting. you can take a reading after they break in and then check every month and see how fast the intensity drops off. the main problem with LUX is that it is geared for the "Green" spectrum of light so if you try use it to compare different bulbs it is useless unless the bulbs have the exact same spectrum output. Thanks Steve!
I'll compare the same bulb in each socket tomorrow  Christy :) |
