Adding Sand

Basically, my Display tank is a bare bottom QT tank now. Ater >6 months of treatment, it's time to add sand back. Now since I only have fish in there, what are the drawbacks of adding sand while the fish are in there?

I've purchased a bag of reef-flor grade caribesea sand, and was just wondering about the cloudiness of doing so.

wash it out in a bucket to get most of the fine particles/dust out of it, its a real pain but helps, put some filter floss or sponges on the poerheads/filters where possible to help get the particles out of the water doing so helps the cloudiness go away much quicker, and maybe just add a bit at a time so it dosent end up being a big sandstorm

When adding the sand ... I use a piece of 2 or 3 inch pvc just long enough to go from the bottom of the tank to just above the rim, by filling the tube while its in the tank you really reduce the cloudiness. However DO NOT LIFT THE TUBE OUT OF THE WATER UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY DONE. When you are done adding sand, get all the sand out of the tube, then cover the bottom of the tube with your hand so as to keep all the water / dust in the tube, then lift it out of the tank. If you do it this way your water should stay mostly clear.

thanks for the techniques.. but I suppose the question i'm getting at is : The fish can handle a sandstorm no problem...correct ?
