Never thought I'd get sad at a LFS

We went to Big Al's today to pick up some carbon and of course I had to go look at the fish. Didn't really think much of it as I headed to the back of the store to look at the fish, but I have to say it was a bit overwhelming looking at fish for sale thinking to myself "I used to have one of those, and one of those, and one of those....." I have to say I'm missing my fish right now.

Thankful though that I still have a few left.

Thanks guys. I hope it will get better (I'm sure given enough time it will) I'm just having a rough night and I usually feel better after I share my feelings, so thanks for (want to say listening here but really it's more like) reading.

To most people it's "just a fish" but to us it's a Pet just like a cat or dog so it's nice to have people you can share with that know what your talking about and understand how hard it can be.

It will get better and while it is a hard lesson learned, there is a good feeling when you see the fish you saved and know you did everything possible that you could and it worked.
My clarkii clown was on deaths door when I finally managed to catch all the fish out of the display and put them into quarantine. She managed to pull through and while she's still a sea hag and attacks me every chance she gets, I know I saved her life and that's enough

Think about setting it all up again and how it will be in the near future. And stay away from pet stores for a while, go to the spa and treat yourself instead.
I know what your feeling about now and it will pass....in time, hang in there!

I am so sorry you are sad... You have taught a great many of us a big lesson and your losses are not in vain. Your story will save many people and fish from the same disaster you suffered. The worst thing to do is go to a LFS in a depressed state to begin with.

You need a break to rebuild and regain health in the tank. Take the time to build the automated water changes for the system and look forward to it... it is the best thing we ever could have done for our tank. Also get the stuff I told you about to build bacteria in your system to get the nitrates down. Get everything in order in the next six weeks and look forward to improving everything you have to make it better in the future.

I wish I knew what else to say.
