closed loop questions???
 

I am in the process of building a new tank, and have decided to get extra holes drilled in the bottom for a closed loop. I was wondering what people with closed loops are using for a pump, and if they have any regrets in going with a closed loop. thanks

Although tank size plays a role, I think an ideal CL would use a reeflo pump and ocean motion device. I also like the pump intake on the back pane of glass and spread over two 2" holes to avoid sand and high suction current. You would also need 4 or even 8 holes for output which could be on the base.

This is one I did a while ago, it has four 1" outputs.

Notice how the OM is on it's side and over the sump, makes cleaning the drum very easy.

thats awesome, thanks for the pics. if the intakes are on the back did you ever have problems with stuff being sucked in? what size tank is that? Just out of curiosity what is the footfrint? its an hob overflow correct? I have alot of friends in saskatoon right now that could maybe bring me that!! wow that was alot of questions!

never mind, i see the screens on the intakes now!

I regret CL .For the same price you can get Tunze,s and achieve better flow.Plus much easier to service and set up.Tunze,s dont leak!

270 gallon, 6' long, 3' wide, 2' tall.

It's not a hob overflow, it's an external overflow, the side glass is notched.
