Ampmaster 3000?

Question. These are pretty old school right? Can you still get seals for them. I have one that's been sitting in my basement for the last 4 years. Don't know if I should even bother using it. Anybody still running the Dolphin Ampmaster 3000? Thanks so much.

I am using an Ampmaster 3600.

It is a great pump. It is extremely quiet and uses far less electricity than most of the newer pumps (Reflo).

I believe you can buy new seals directly from Dolphin Pumps.

Hi Tom,

Have you ever had to replace the seals? That's what I'm worried about is that one day the seals gonna go and I'm gonna be stuck in a hard place. I've read different forums saying that seals tend to go every 6 months or so. This is an old pump that I got 3rd hand so that's what concerns me. Do you have backup seals or have you ordered any? Thanks.

I have run 2 ampmaster 3000's since 2003 without issue or replacing seals.

That's awesome. I guess I just have to test it first before plumbing it in. I never got a chance to test it when I bought it because of the large fittings. Any idea what size the fittings are. I measured it and I have male threaded both in and out of the pump and outside diameter is almost 2 1/2" including thread. Seems awfully big. Thanks so much.

The ones I have are designed to be used with 1.5" pipe - they come with a union at both the the intake and output sides.

I see....I didn't get the unions when I bought this pump used. I guess I'll have to take the pump to a plumbing store to fit it. Thanks a bunch. You have cleared my doubts about using this pump.

Hi Dez

I have used my Ampmaster for 6 years and I have not replaced the seals yet. I am getting a bit of salt creep around the drive shaft. I just knock it off about every third month. You can buy replacement unions and seals directly from Dolphin Pumps.

Dez, a little off topic, but could you stop referring to 4 years ago as "old school" ? :p

Looks like J&L has some left after they discontinued Dolphin pumps.
