Tangs Tangs Tangs. Some Qs.
 

So today I brought home a Purple Tang from Bayside. Beautiful specimen. I started by putting the bag in to equalize the temp. Once I did this my Clown tang seemed to be fine. I let the Purple Tang go and they had a small squable and moved to their corners. The purple tang being a little more stressed obviously was not the aggressor at this point. I removed the clown tang and he is now in my sump (Don't worry, it's 90g of room in the area he's in). If I move some rock and let the purple tang establish himself a bit, can I add the clown tang later?

Clown tangs tend to be quite aggressive. I would try what you are planning (ie. move the rockwork & then reintroduce). In the past, with tangs, what worked for me was to keep the new tang in a plexi isolation chamber until the other fish get used to it. Then when I release the new fish, the others seem almost to ignore it.

I like this idea. I have done this with eggcrate before to divide the tank and allow the fish to get used to each other.

Works very well.

Clown tangs are short lived notorious bullies.
You are on the right track. Move the rock around and return the clown to his tank in the evening when the lights are off. He will be aware of the new tang but will be kept busy finding a place for the night.
In the morning feed a lot more often and at different ends of the tank so there is no fights over food. They may adjust over a few days but if the purple starts hiding I would return the clown to the lfs
