searching on RC
have you guys seen the new sticky up there?
http://reefcentral.com/forums/announ...?s=&forumid=37 most notably: full search capability! I guess they updated their server? As innocuous as a simple search feature on a website may seem, I think this could have big impacts in our hobby considering the wealth of knowledge on that site that used to be limited by the fact that you can't do an effective search (except around 4 in the freakin morning). |
Haha, wow, that IS profound. Guess it's not ready though I just tried it and got the usual "No search for you!!!!" message..

It's been a LOOONG time coming for them to update their forum.
Should be interesting to see if they can get it to the latest version of vBulletin without crippling their servers. vBulletin 3.8.x is pretty server intensive. If you noticed though, the http://archive.reefcentral.com is already on vbulletin 3.8.1  Hurray for optimized indexed searching! |
sweeeet!!!!

Tony, sorry, probably should have mentioned that the update to the RC framework is in the future tense at the present. None of is actually in place yet. the announcement is titled "Reef Central COMING ATTRACTIONS". I didn't see a date.
lol, yup, that's true doug but I'm Canadian... I'm a freeloader by nature :D |
WOW RC is actually going to spend money on the forum.
It's amazing they might actually be close to the abilities Canreef has. Thanks to Titus, Canreef continues to get upgrades as they become available. Good to see RC getting updated Vbulliten. I'm sure that would not be a fun migration from one servier to another. |
