Color mixing montis!
We had a thread here on CanReef a couple months ago on this subject, but can't seem to find it :(
I copied the idea from Emster's build thread on RC here and then he was featured as Jan 2009 TOTM. Very beautiful display! Last night I finally got around to mounting my frags onto a piece of travertine tile. I cut it with a 2" diamond holesaw, then left it in some water for a couple days. The water was changed every time I walked past it in the kitchen.. never too sure with concrete products (at least in my nano). February 25th 2009 http://nazerine.reefbc.com/photos/02...onti-frags.jpg http://nazerine.reefbc.com/photos/02...i-mounted1.jpg http://nazerine.reefbc.com/photos/02...i-mounted2.jpg Let's see how it is a couple months from now  |
*tagging along**
if this works out I'd like to try purple/red or something along those lines. No Christmas monti's LOL |
tagging 2, dougs purple, mikes red, and johns green, could be an idea.
|
I've been thinking of layering the red, green & purple. I've seen it elsewhere and it looks awesome.

Christmas montis .. haha. I hope it turns out well and they don't kill each other. I also had a few more small pieces I mounted on a plug too.
Those frags were grown out from baby sized frags .. maybe 1/2" or so |
just be careful it's all the same species.
Janet at OA was showing Al and I the new OA display where they had done this and several of them were attacking one another and she informed us that different species of monti will do that. |
just tagging along, I always thought it was a great idea. Guess I know have to make sure that it is the same species if I try it.

One thing I did notice was the mount on RC, he didn't have any touching they grew together, when I did mine I mounted them touching Hmmm??
