Buying Dowflake in Calgary

I'm gonna try and make my own Ca, Mg and alk supplementation and need to find these ingredients locally. Any idea where to buy em?

Dowflake - calcium chloride dihydrate
Epsom salts
Magnesium chloride hexahydrate

I'm not sure that dowflake is safe anymore. They added something to it a couple years ago, I think it was bromine. Epsom salts can be purchased at a grocery or drug store. Not sure where you can get Magnesium chloride but Bulk Reef Supply or Chemmaster, both sponsors on Canreef can sell it to you.

Yeh the word on RC is don't use it anymore.

bulkreefsupply is great though.

Okay thanks, can you recommend a good source for calcium chloride dihydrate or should I just talk with those sponsors?

I bought some Dowflake at a place called "Univar" a couple years ago. It might be worth looking into, they may have some of the "reef safe" type still. I've have used ChemMaster AKA littlesilvermax as well, he's very good to deal with.

Not in Calgary, but you might find some bulk Calcium here:

Thanks guys, I think I'm all set.

I deal with chemaster aka little silvermax as well and that is what I would recommend. He is coming to Calgary in a while so see if you can work something out with him. In the mean time how much do you need? I can likely fix you up with a few pounds.

I was at costco the other night and they have 4 kg jugs of epson salt for like $6.50.
