Has anyone ever used boyds chemi pure or seachems deniyrate, nitrates are 20ppm,they were 40ppm did major water changes brought it down to 20ppm.cut down on feeding, and biload, gave away 3 fish.Any other ideas?

I have used Chemi pure in all my systems for the last 18 years, I don't know how much of a difference it makes but my water is allways crystal clear, nitrates are undetectable and I have had a number of specimens live 10+ years. I also maintain low bioloads and limit the amount of food I put into the system. I am sure it contributes to the success but by how much I don't know.

I do not use carbon, never have. I think that chemi pure contains an activated carbon as part of the ingredients. Powell River is pretty small as you know. I may very well know your parents, If you are ever in town feel free to stop by.
