Will my yellow tang heal on his own?
I just got a yellow tang and introduced him into my display tank. He's now showing some tiny white spots (only a few)... I think it's ick. I only have a few other fish in the tank currently. I can't catch him as hes in a 230gal with lots of live rock. He is eating well and does not seem stressed.
All water parameters are good. CAL 400-420 ALk 9.0-10 DKH NO3, NO2, Ammonia all at 0 My question is, If my water quality is good, can he fight it off with no other treatment? Should I do something else? UV? |
whats he eating? if hes already in there and your not looking to take him out, the best thing i could think of to make him recover faster is just improve the quality of his diet if that's possible.

Soak some nori in garlic, he will likely recover just fine on his own.

I am soaking his food in garlic, and hes eating great. I am feeding him nori, mysis, and Mishkas food.
Is there anything else I can do? Thanks for the advise. |
no, sounds like you've got it covered. You should see good results in a day or two

Thanks aquattro!

Where are these spots located?? By the Tail?? or all over body?
|
do you have a cleaner shrimp? they are also known as the tank doctor and could help in cleaning this problem up
|
There are only about 5 spots on the body and fins, very small. I have a large cleaner shrimp but I have never seen him clean any fish.
|
Cleaner shrimps are good, you might even want to try a cleaner wrasse, they unfortunately in most cases dont live long but they can sometimes do a good job on parasites. All that said I have had one in my 27g for a year now and still going strong....if he is eating and not getting skinny or lathargic you will probably see him pull through.
