Wanted to share my latest acquisition (UPDATED)
Thought some of you may enjoy this, I know I am.
http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...dium/gigas.jpg After all the requests and kind words, I have edited this post with a shot of my full tank and a top down of both the gigas and my other clam, the crocea. Tony- the gigas is the same one listed on this forum a couple of months ago. The new owner decided against keeping him (I still can't figure out why) the original owner contacted me because I showed interest before. I ended up making a trade with the original owner (long story). The clam is huge, 13+" and what a chore moving it, but worth every minute. I wanted to get him in the tank without exposing him to the air. During the process I ended up keeping him under water the whole time but was not able to keep a lot of the water from getting on the floor! Boy was I glad the wife had already headed to bed. The clam is settling in well now, he seems more reactive each day. http://www.canreef.com/photopost/data/500/tank_full.jpg http://www.canreef.com/photopost/data/500/gigas_top.jpg http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...crocea_top.jpg Thanks again everyone. Nice to see another reefer from the Okanagan! :) |
That has to be hands-down one of the nicest looking gigas I've ever seen. Where did you find it?? I remember there was blue gigas for sale on here a few months ago in the BC interior somewhere.
I second the request for some top-down shots. :) How big is he? |
