Quick questions regarding Herbie style drain

I hope to finish the plumbing today, and I need to know:

1) How far do you extend the 1 1/2" pipe under the water level in the sump for the main drain?
2) Do you solid pipe or perferated (with holes) under the sump water level?
3) Do you use a standpipe on the main drain bulkhead or just drain through the bulkhead.

Thank you

Look on RC for diagrams. The basic plumbing is fairly simple. I don't think it makes any difference for any of your questions. The standpipe will set a minimum level for the water in your overflow.

1. My drain pipe is about an inch under water in my sump, but my last tank, my drain was 45'ed and ran into the wall of the sump above the water line
2.Solid pipe
3.I used to use a standpipe in my last tank but now I just have a standpipe on the emergency and bulkhead for drain (gate valve controls the water level not the standpipe)
