Hey guys,

So, I wanted to figure this out. Since it's been 3 weeks since my tank has been running, figured I'd do some testing. So, there I went and took out my test kit.

Everything tested ok, and then I get to the GH/KH test, and what do I do. I counted 24 drops of the GH solution before it turned blue and 18 drops of the KH solution before it turned yellow.

GH is around 24x20 = 440
KH is around 18x10 = 180

So, i go, sweet, what do these really mean? I looked at the table on the back and it says:

Conversion table:
Multiply GH or KH by x 0.056 = dh or gh
" " " " " x 0.07 = clark
" " " " " x 0.1 = fh
" " " " " x 1 = hardness
" " " " " x 0.02 = mEq/L

So, how do I get dKH out of this??

wondering if this is a Hagen kit. Also isn't GH more for freshwater. If so thought you got ppm, then could use this calculator to dKH.

For SW only use the KH value which is in PPM. 180ppm x .056 = 10.08DKH. Looks good.

To get meq/l out of dkh you mulitply by 2.8.

The reason why I had asked was because GH x 0.058 and KH x 0.058 gives two completely different numbers, so I didn't know which one to use.

Yeah, it's a hagen kit.

So it sounds like the water parameters are ok.

Thanks.
