Pink Line Wrasse Decent pics added (nov 18)

So i bought this wrasse today and the vendor did not know the latin name of this fish but sai it was a pink line wrasse. also said that it was a new discovery in the last two years. its is in the mystery wrasse family and shares the light pastel colors in blue, pink, red and yellow. the color patter and fish shape are quite simular to a 6 line wrasse.

Here are a couple pics. both are thru dirty glass as were taken fron the side and he was hiding in a spot i could not get the mag cleaner.
these pics do it little justice. apears to have an overall gold hue.

How many lateral lines does it have? looks like an 8 line to me. yes, like mystery and six-lines, it's definitely a pseudocheilinus Sp. if it is an 8-line the vendor has no idea; i kind of enjoy when lfs workers admit they have no idea what a fish really is, then turn around and claim that it's rare or is a new species. P. octotaenia was described in 1901; imported occasionally into the trade.

it's a nice fish (but then I love all wrasses really); I see it's in your contest tank. J&L sells them for 29.95$ saltwaterfish.com sells them for 20.99$

I do not think this is an 8 line. I think I saw this fish at the LFS that ElGuappo purchased it from. It really was a cool fish, I almost bought it myself but thought it would not get along with my other wrasse and splendid dottyback as they are much larger than it.
Very cool fish ElGuappo! I am jealous you ended up getting it.

hm, I was going off of this pic from fishbase. Id say the rear section is a hit; does the head look different? guappo, can we get a confirmation on the number of lateral lines? I think i see eight, but i might be imagining...

Hmm.. I think the unidentified wrasse here has more blue to the body and doesn't have quite as long a body as the 8 line, that is of course, only if it is the same fish I saw.

I believe that may be what is called a cryptic sixline wrasse? (scroll down the page about 2/3)

The only reason I could identify is because I was looking at these guys on-line when I set up my tank. They're cute.

Here's the link where I first found this guy when I was looking at wrasses

Ya i have seen this pic before and thought it may be this. and yes its the one you saw locally. it only took three trips to the shop over 2 weeks to grab it.

Not an eight line as stated above too stubby a body.

Very close to the cryptic sixline but has a fair bit more blue in the body striping could just be a variation between specimins. M/F.

Still trying to get pics.

I thought last night when i looked at the marine depot pic it may be a cryptic but there are some very subtle differences. plus i was getting tired so i didnt post, as i had no idea if i was tired and crosseyed so i wanted get better eyes on the pic. not to mention all my viewings are thru rock at this point mostly.

So upon a closer inspection i dont think there is any way that this is a cryptic sixline there is just too much neon coloring.
