110 g. tank - 6' X 18 wide; Can I keep rays in this tank?
And if so, what kind of water? Ehiem canister filter ok?
And what type of ray? Many thanks. |
sounds like a great opportunity to do some research.
try doing a search on "rays" here on if that doesn't come up with much, RC. cheers. |
look into teacup rays they are a fw ray but stay reasonably small. cant remember scientific name but a local vender sells them here.

the 6' would be great, but 18" just isn't enough width. especially if you're going to put live rock in there... you need a lot of open sandy area and a very stable rock structure. a collapse would prove fatal if a big rock fell on top of the ray. I would say minimum 36" maybe 24" if you really plan the sandy areas well. preferably a lot more honestly.
you'd also have to consider what kind of ray you're lookin at keeping. that' s pretty much all i can say about rays. don't know much about them. |
one more thing i have read that they like to circle the parimeter of the tank ! any rock structure would have to be central. didnt see dimensions dont think 18 would be enough. next time your in calgary check out riverfront they have a tank with 3 rays and a huge chili red arrowana.
