Anemone ID
Does anyone have any idea as to what species this might be.
http://www.eposer.com/pics/a/01.jpg http://www.eposer.com/pics/a/02.jpg http://www.eposer.com/pics/a/03.jpg http://www.eposer.com/pics/a/04.jpg It's just cloned, as you can see in the first picture, and now that I'm a daddy I really want to know what they are. They're about the size of a toonie and seem to be doing really well in a 10g under 2x 28w pc lighting. Thanks, Evan |
I have a horrible feeling it is the other bad guy, Anemonia majano. See the Hithiker FAQ.

Bob hit the nail on the haed.
take a mix of Kalk and boiling hot water in a Salifert Alk or Ca test kit and inject that mix into the little guys. If you can leave a bit of a paste over top of it when it retracts.. That is how i have dealt with these on prior occasions. |
Bob and Darren are right on the money-get rid of those suckers or they will give you trouble! Double trouble! Triple............. and so on.........
I have seen chocolate chip stars that consume these little guys no problem. If you know someone who has a CC starfish, see if you could rent it from them for a couple of days  All you have to do is place the star right ontop of the majano, and the next day-bam! all gone  cheers, Rich |
you know.. it is to bad they are so bad, cuz they sure are pretty

Bob,
Thanks for the ID.  I thought they were doing too well for their own good. Well at least they're only in my nano, so it will be easy enough to deal with them. Evan. |

Bob,
I think that's what I'm going to do, I dont think I'll fill the tank completely but I'm not going to eradicate them either. They're very nice looking and interesting to watch as they are quite active. Evan. |
They will sting corals and kill them. You should remove them as soon as you can. The other thing that I have some consern about is the three leg starfish in the picture. they are harmful as well and should be removed. Hope this helps.
