El Guappo's 90G Reef.

Well i got the stand today and figured i should start this thread. And yes this IS the reason im trying to sell my RSM. Yesterday i took all the remaining fish back to the LFS. thankfully riverfront is SW and FW as my FW fish on return brought me in a 120 dollar credit. (i was expecting 80ish) so this should give me the additional LR and Sand i need.

The tank still needs to be drilled and one of canreefs "Saltwater Saviours" has agreed to help me with this task. (thanks Again in Advance, you know who you are!) i would like some input as to the size of holes i should use as i want to do a single middle overflow. this is because after seing that wavebox thread i think that it is in the equasion down the road. i have read mid tank overflows work better on the Tunze site as the waterlevel is more constant there than in the corner. Pics to follo as it slowley comes together. hoping for a Nov 2 setup.

Mult Tasking

Well here i thought i was capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time, turns out i was wrong. so as it stands im trying to condense two small tanks into a third tank. all this while trying to keep aside rock for the nano contest, and placing aptasia riden rock in a bucket to be dried and cycled again at a later date for my 90.

While trying moving rock from bucket to tank, tank to bucket, and tank to tank i forgot that i had a cyphon hose going on my 90 gallon to remove the rest of the water as i got rid of all the fish 2 days ago. needless to say things would have been a LOT wose if i hadn't decided to come downstairs for another reason. a few beach towels and and hour later things were back to normal. i would say only about 4-6 gallons so not TOO bad.

MORON.........:wink::wink:

That's nothing... I left my RO unit running for 12 hours filling a Culligan jug.. :mrgreen: Only benefit was that it was in the laundry room next to the floor drain.

lol yea i wouldnt feel bad about that... I left my rodi unit running for 24hrs hooked up directly to the tank 2 days ago. Things are recovering now and I think i got luck cause nothing died so far. Also lucky its an unfinished basement so no dmg to anything.

Well got my holes drilled today. thanks to doug for lending a helping hand. 2 drains will fit 1 1/2 bulkhead and returns 2 x 3/4.

ElGuappo 10-29-2008 06:10 AM

Just curious but what return pump would you reccomend for this. i havent started to plumb or found a tank for a sump yet but thinking i would like to slowley get things started.

Primary and emerg drains are center drilled and and set for a 1 1/2 bulk head and there is 1 3/4 returns in each corner.

Any suggetions.?

Just wondering about bio load and such at this point. i am considering a small school of something and maybe acouple rabbit fish and and a CBB. I would like to know if there is a inches per gallon rule or how this is calculated?

Also still looking for suggestions on a pump i should mention that it will have about 5 feet of head and i want about 800-1100 between the two returns.

Will add pick off empty drilled tank.

I am running the OceanRunner 6500 on my 75.. gives me 1150GPH on my return at about 4-5 foot head loss. You could probably get the 900-1000gph area with the extra tank size.

As for the inch per gallon rule, I pretty much scrapped that guideline when I got into SW. It very much depends on what you stock, how heavy you are skimming, territorial issues, etc...
